Fifteen years of R&D
on a running production line.

Most brands test ideas on paper. Our Maxi, Flexi and Mati lines have served as a laboratory: every change in polymer, fibre, adhesive or proportion is produced on the line, sampled, measured and worn before it becomes a standard.

The loop

Produced, not imagined

A hypothesis — a new polymer grade, a lighter ADL, a zoned core — is only a hypothesis until it has run on a real machine at real speed. Line trials show what a drawing never shows: how a material behaves on the rollers, how glue patterns hold at speed, how a core forms.

Samples from each trial are measured, then worn. The result is studied, the recipe adjusted, and the loop starts again. Over fifteen years that loop has turned into knowledge of raw materials and production that cannot be bought off a catalogue.

Three lines, one laboratory

Where we learned

Maxi

High capacity

The grade where capacity under load and low rewet are pushed hardest — our bench for polymer choice and dual cores.

Flexi

Pull-on underwear

Our bench for fit, elastics, textile backsheets and fast acquisition.

Mati

Underpads

Large flat cores: the bench for distribution over surface, fibre networks and backsheet integrity.

Flexi Ultra, feature by feature: stretch waist, leak-proof leg cuffs, absorbent core, wetness indicator, tear-away sides.

We behave like students of our own results: every prototype is made on the line, every result is studied, and nothing becomes a standard until it has earned it.

Questions

Frequently asked

What does R&D on a production line mean?

Every change in polymer, fibre, adhesive or proportion is produced on a real machine at real speed, sampled, measured with standard methods and worn before it becomes a standard — instead of being tested only on paper or in a hand-made sample.

Which product lines served as Nateen’s test benches?

Maxi (high capacity), Flexi (pull-on underwear) and Mati (underpads), over fifteen years of line trials.

Two continents

Two production sites, two laboratories

Our line laboratories sit next to the machines, in the United States and in China: a change is tested where it is made.
